New Disney Movie features First African American Princess

Walt Disney Pictures long talked about film with it's first African American princess is said to be released this December 11th and November 25th in L.A and New York. The story will re-imagine the classic tale of “The Frog Princess,” featuring a girl named Tiana, voiced by Anika Noni Rose ("Dreamgirls", 2006), who meets a frog prince who desperately wants to become human again, leading them on an adventure through Louisiana bayous. "New Orleans native John Goodman will voice Eli "Big Daddy" LaBouff in the film. Another New Orleans tie in the film features Jim Cummings, who has voiced other characters in animated features and worked in New Orleans for some time, who will voice the character Ray. Other notable celebrities voice characters in the film such as Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard ("Iron Man", 2008).“The Princess And The Frog” will feature music by Oscar-winning composer Randy Newman. Newman grew up in New Orleans and played at the 2008 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival." (wdsu)
