Forgive the brevity of this week’s DyVineDyalogue! I’m cooking up some good stuff for you all, but enjoy!

Love in this Club.

We all want love. We all want to love and be loved. So, like all other things that we want, we seek it out. When we want food, we go get it. When we want clothes, we go buy them. When we want love… we, somehow, always seem to end up at the club!

Ever been to a club? It’s crowded, dimly lit and has obnoxiously loud music. So, why, of all places, do we head there to look for Mr./Mrs. Right? I’ve asked people, on numerous occasions, if they’d date someone they met in a club. They always say no but, I find that the majority of the people at clubs don’t like being single and are looking for someone to be with. Soooo, you're looking for love, you head to the place where you’d never want to meet anyone?? That’s like saying I want a dope pair of ALDO heels and going to stand in Payless and watch the shoes… It’s stupid. So it’s either stupid or, deep down, people would date someone they met in the club even though they don't want to admit it!

And truth be told, I don’t think it’s anything wrong with it! Why do I think this? Because I go to clubs and I am an amazing person to meet! (*Sorry fellas, I’ve removed myself from the market!*) But, I do believe that there are some pretty dope people to meet in the club. You just have to be careful.

One of the main reasons why a club may not be conducive to meeting someone is the atmosphere. The fact that it is dimly lit, almost dark at times; and the music is too darn loud! Fellas, you know you’ve run across that female that looked so fine in the club but, at last call when they turned the lights on, you realized that shadows work wonders for her. And Ladies… I know you’ve seen that dude that had the body of Boris Kodjoe with the shades on and when he offers to walk you out the club and takes off the shades, you realize that he must be Gucci Mane’s twin brother. And on top of that, you got a headache from yelling and getting yelled at all night! (In my Ms. Sophia voice) Don’t do it… Don’t do it… it ain’t worth it. LOL. Now you got this “ug-a-boo” that just won’t go away! So my advice… stick to well lit places and chill spot lounges. And wait until last call when the lights come on to see if that “Halle Berry” is truly “Halle Beeeeeeerrrrrrry, Halle Berry!” Hahaha

Second, and the biggest issue is that people at the club are not their everyday selves! When I go to the club, I put on make-up and dress a certain way that I probably wouldn’t dress if I was going elsewhere. When I’m at the club, I drink; so, I’m a little bit more social than I normally am. If you met me in a club, I’d still be me; I’d just be the version of me that I want to be that night! Hahaha! And I’m sure this is true for everyone, especially females. Fellas, you come to the club too! You all stunt like you’re all ballers with your big shades and your fly guy swag. And at the end of the night, your boy is dropping you back off at your mom’s crib. Everyone is putting up some sort of front. It’s like we’re all playing this game. We all know the rules and no one ever questions it. This problem, however, cannot be overcome. This is just the club. If you talk to someone in the club, you just have to take the risk that they might not be who they fully say they are. I know I’ve been known to go by Arielle and live in Indiana! Haha!

Overall, dating someone you meet in the club can be tricky. But just like when you meet people in other places, you have to talk and get to know them. So, don’t say it can’t be done! And stop discrediting people because they’re at a club. You’re there too! Duh!

from childhood, celebrations to the next level of something better is often celebrated by a graduation. from pre-school there is a graduation to kindergarten; from eighth grade there is a graduation to high school; from high school there is a graduation to college and from college there is a graduation to a successful career.

with that said, graduations signify growth in one’s life. they tell a story of the past struggles, the perseverance of pushing pass those obstacles, the courage to face the fear of the unknown and the victory of achieving the degree to move forward and advance to better things.

as I reflected on the word ‘graduation’ and all the above, I came to the realization that we as individuals need to throw ourselves a graduation from a few things in life. at some point in life we need to re-evaluate and decide when it is time to move to a higher ground. we must graduate from those people, places, things, actions, thoughts, habits, rituals, that hinder us from achieving that next level. we will never be able to experience full happiness if we don’t work towards the goal of happiness.
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I no longer used childish ways. {1 Corinthians 13:11}

This keeps me up at night...Gotta Make a Change

I usually chill and have a light mood. I don't like to worry about the worlds ills because there are so many. Im sitting here awake at an awkward hour because of my narcoleptic sleeping patterns. I'm looking on snewty and i realized i never saw the whole Derrion Albert video, just clips. I watched the whole thing about 6 times, and couldn't go to sleep. Its true that this happens all the time but I was sooo blowed when I saw it. I have pledged the hardest frat, ("Roo to the Ques") while playing football, the most violent sport and i've been in alot of fights wit ppl and my brothers. I thought i was pretty immune to violence, but when I saw that stuff, I literally had tears in my eyes.

If u make it past 20 in the Chi ur blessed. Being from the whole Chicagoland area there is a diffrent state of mind and thought process, Jo. I'll be the first to rep Naperville (8A FB State Champs/Candace Parker - Sparks Allstar/Owen Daniels-Houston TE/Glenn Earl-Bears DB/Sean Payton-NO-Head Coach/Tayo-All-American HJ Purdue). Not gonna claim nothin else even tho everybody from my school from out west or somewhere in the city. I'm glad I didn't have to dodge bullets to go home. I feel like i'm blessed that I grew up in the Ville and played sports and didn't get sucked into the send off missions. I think that everybody that made it to our age is Blessed in so many ways.

Like Nas said, its not cool to shoot or get shot up and it happens all too much. A lot of people want to say, "just go to church!". And I believe that those values are very important and i am a Confirmed Catholic myself but; especially up north, that doesn't cut it. People r not going to church as soon as their mom can't make them any more and thats just the culture. Down here in Georgia the church has a bigger reach and maybe thats why there isn't 300 teen deaths in a year in the city.

But above all other things to keep kids alive and on the right track, we just have to be there. If dudes put in some of the time and "work" they put in with some of these flusies, juices, and bussas, into fostering a young kids growth then we would see a much stronger future. I am really blown away by the Snewty movement thats going on right now. They are starting a Graduate mentorship program for kids in the City. We all need to pitch in and do our part in making sure these kids have someone to look up to, hold them accountable, and show them the right way. In our society its probably not necessarily going to be a father. But if a mature figure is there for a kid to look up to or look forward to seeing then they are more likely to do good in school or on the block.

Basically what I'm saying is that we need to get involved as mature adults that are in privileged positions. Especially men, we need to hold down the fort and get involved with some afterschool programs. So with that in mind, The Ga.Tech football team and DK Ques are going to restart up a mentoring program for these kids. We have done it before with Blaylock Elementry but the school got shut down. And then Bunie helped us with a day in the summer with the Boys and Girls club, we just need to be constant with it and STOP BEING LAZY! We can and will make a diffrence!

DyVineDyalogue 2.5: Tainted Trust

If asked what are the most important attributes of a healthy relationship, it is undoubtedly true that trust will be among those listed. Everyone wants to be labeled trustworthy and, in turn, seek that same attribute in others. I know I do, and if you read these posts regularly, you do. You measure my actions and words in accordance to your own and you say yes.. I can trust her, or no, I cannot. To some extent, you trust what I have to say (and I thank you for that trust). However today, I did not come to speak to you about being trustworthy. You know what you require. Expect that others require the same and you’ll do just fine. I've come to address a trust we all know too well: Tainted Trust.

I had to go look up trust. This is the definition that I got from Dictionary.com: Trust - noun. Confident expectation of something; hope. I was quite astonished to see the word “hope.” That makes this DyVineDyalogue so much easier to write. So, I shall define Tainted Trust as such: - noun. a trust that has been through battle and has never been fully restored. A trust that has been tarnished by lackluster love, effort, and caused by undue pain. A loss of hope in love.

I have been cheated on. I have been lied to. And I have been lied about (*side eye to the haters*). My trust has been tainted. However, I am able to write this piece because I choose to restore myself and my trust. I choose to bandage my ailing wounds and allow them to heal. And I remember that love is a chance. Each time a new set of odds are placed before me and I will not miss a chance to grow in love.

Fellas, have you ever dealt with a woman who questioned your every move? Every word? Ladies, have you dealt with a man who, no matter your efforts, believed what other people had to say about you (i.e. his mama). Barring any insecurity issues, tainted trust is your problem.

Yesterday, I said via Twitter…”There are times when you allow ppl n. And u put down the guards. U give them this power [trust]… And they hurt u…” I go on to say, “U find it harder to trust again. So u put off being vulnerable. U forget what being soft is. U alienate u and ur heart from the world…” And finally, “Little do u kno how unfair that is to those who really wanna love u” (Side note… I say some dope ish via Twitter… make a note to follow me: @DyVineSoul).

I’ve come to realize that the majority of us are out here walkin around with tainted trust. We let the experiences in the past keep in a present hell and bar us from future happiness. Love is about chance. Will he be the one? Is this my wife? And trust is about hope. I hope that he will love me enough to consider me before he thinks about cheating. I hope that she will put my feelings into consideration before she makes a big decision. Trust and Love. Love and Trust. There isn’t one without the other.

While writing this blog, I got a call from my guy whom I kick mad knowledge with most of the time. The conversation we had made my revelation so much clearer. Because this relationship between love and trust exists, we have to realize that we can never truly love until we allow ourselves to heal our tainted trust. We cannot wholeheartedly give ourselves if the trust isn’t there. We all walk around looking for love without realizing that we have to be a whole “self” before we can become an "us."

My guy of course said this, “As you get older, you go through things that make you trust people less.” To this I say, the rules of the "real" world don’t always apply in love. Love is its own warped, rose-colored world. And we have to realize that trust in the real world is not that of the love world. Its common sense that, as we age, we experience things that make us guarded. We learn of robberies and theft, so we lock our door. But if you look closely… that doesn’t apply in love. If I choose to lock my heart’s door, no one will enter and I’ll never have love. I have to be able to take a chance that if I let you make it into my yard, up the path and knock on my heart’s door, that I can let you in and, at least, look around.

When we first meet someone and as time progresses, we let them know we like them. We give them power [trust]. And as the relationship grows, we give them more and more til finally, they have our complete and total trust. And we’ve fallen in love. We’ve given them this great deal of power in our life and that makes us vulnerable. This is why it hurts so much when we people cheat and such. And this is usually why you hear people tweeting, ranting, crying and singing about not trusting again. It’s a hard thing to deal with.

Believe me, I know this isn’t easy. I know that some of us have been wronged in ways that most will never imagine. But you must heal. And you must heal properly. Take the chance on love and restore your hope. Restore your trust.

And one thing that I always like to stress is that everything that you do is about control. If you realize that you are in control of your emotions and all that is you, it is so much easier to change things. If someone has hurt you and you allow them to forever walk away with your trust, you are letting them have a power over you. Keep your control. Control your power. Say to yourself that I will trust. I will not let that person from the past keep me from what I want now and in the future.

I hope all this helps. I hope you will heal. Matter of fact… I trust that you will!

How long it takes you to fall asleep, how many times you wake up at night, and how long you were actually sleep are all questions you can now answer (If someone other than your doctor wants to know this stuff, its a DyVineSoul conversation). I know I been far and in between with post but I'm in one of those observant mindsets as of lately. I also have been working with the rest of the Snewty team on the launch of what will be the new Snewty.com so keep tune for that. Any who I felt the need to address a few issues via this post. Part of the meaning of being Snewty is being Socially Conscious and well informed on topics that are pertinent to your matriculation in society. Yes you read that sentence right. With that being said I think it is important that I shed light on a few instances, happenings, and tragedies that have plagued me and some of my counterparts and sparked an inkling for working to change these things. I will do my best to preserve the balance. Thus highlighting the positive and the negative. Snewty is based in Chicago and of course as of lately violence has become synonymous with the mention of my city. In particular this violence has targeted our youth.
I hoped on twitter this morning as I usually do and found a host of the individuals who I follow to be involved in passionate rants on the topic of solutions to violence in Chicago. Specifically using the story of Derrion Albert who was brutally beaten as a platform to voice there views and perspectives. Intially I thought about joining them and engaging in banter..but later decided to simply observe and use it as motivation for this post. I felt like Cousins Tyrone Williams, 19, and Percy Day, 17 who were also fatally shot this past week also deserved attention. I wanted to do something more than rant, I wanted to open eyes while providing opportunities to help. So I compiled a list of pertinent articles refelcting what is going on as well as what is being done or has been done. I was always taught the solution to a problem is in the footprints that were intially laid in creating it. So I figure after reading this if you don't want to join a movement already in progress you will collaborate with a group of friends, and put the wheels in motion. Sound familiar? This scenario or some variation of it happens all the time. It’s obvious to guys that this is a joke (as evidenced by his laughter). To Ladies… not so much! Before I proceed, I want to make this clear; some of us (like me) are a bit more intuitive and can see both sides. However, there are some who just won’t. From a woman’s perspective, this joke could lead to sooooo much more.

Like this… (Follow the thoughts):

“I don’t think that was a joke. If it was a joke, I would’ve gotten it. If he’s checking for Serena that hard, how many other females is he doing the same to? Yeah, he is always with that girl, (insert name here). I bet he likes her. I know he’s checking her out. OMG… Is this fool cheating on me?”

I know there are those of you who think this is a stretch but, this is the God-honest truth. I can imagine SEVERAL of my friends doing this very thing! And yes… I have fell victim to this thinking as well. (Covers face in shame) But, I am happy to admit my mistake. (Sorry boo! – LOL)

So, now, I’m here to help us better understand each other. Here are some tips that should help:

1. Men & Women: Say what you mean!

If someone asks you a straightforward question, you give a straightforward answer. “April, what is your favorite color?” “My favorite color is green!” You get what I’m saying? If you are angry with your significant other, say that! “I am angry with you” or “I can’t stand you right now!” Don’t beat around the bush and say you’re fine, when you aren’t.

2. Men & Women: Mean what you say!

If you say “I love you,” say it because that is the way you feel! Don’t say it because you think that that is what the other person wants you to say. Or because you think that’s what they want to hear!

3. Men & Women: Ask Questions!!!!

If you don’t get what’s going on… simply say, “So what you’re saying is (insert your paraphrase of what was said here).” Why be confused about what he/she has said? Like T.I. says in ATL… “Ay man, Be clear..”

4. Women: Don’t always assume there’s more

If he says it, take it as that. Yes there are times when there’s more. More often, there isn’t more to it. If a guy says, I like you – that’s what he means. He does not mean, go out and pick the ring, buy the dress and book the church. He means that he likes you. You’re worth his time. Nothing more.

5. Men: Be clear

I know this is sort of a repeat but not so much. When you are speaking with your woman, don’t be vague. Leave no room for doubt. If there’s doubt, she’ll wonder. And as evidenced by the thought process up above – you do not want her filling in the blanks!

6. Women: Don’t assume that he knows what you’re thinking

Women have this logic that their men KNOW them inside and out. Yes, he does know you and know your likes and dislikes but, please don’t assume that he knows how you think. Perfect example: Him: “Bae, what you wanna eat?” Her: “Oh, anything’s fine.” So, he goes out and brings back Mexican food. Her: “Boo. Mexican food? You KNOW I love Chinese better… you should have gotten me Chinese” (Yes this goes back to meaning what you say, but it is key here as well!)

7. Men & Women Be careful with jokes

When it comes to jokes… make sure the other party fully understands that it is a joke. Also, take into account the type of relationship you guys have.. Is joking common? Is the relationship new? Is he/she in a good mood today? How will they respond to the joke?

**Bonus tip!!** - If at all possible, avoid texting your significant other over prolonged periods of time. Text is a HORRENDOUS form of communication to play jokes, express feelings, or relay bad/good news. I say this because, I have fallen victim and I fully know the power of miscommunication due to text! So PLEASE heed my warning!

Now, do not be deceived. This is not something that is only done under circumstances of inebriation. It takes a certain type of person with a "free" mindset to decide to participate. It usually involves at least 3 people, but is possible with 2 friends. But the key rule is you HAVE to be NORMAL after its over. "Getting weird" fails as an activity if it changes the dynamic of a friendship, relationship, or random-ship once its over.

Ok, I got that out of the way so should I go into that Freaky talk now? (The crowd screams yea, as everyone else sighs and goes finally!) You do not even have to immediately step outside the comfort of your home, try the shower(condoms will lose lubrication so be prepared for that), or better yet fellas make your girl a feast in the kitchen(No, I don't mean cook dummy)! What you will discover is that taking your sexual experience opens the door to not only a different setting but sometimes forces you into different things.

Example: 1)In a kitchen there are no beds which means that all of the positions you perform will either be standing in some form or leaning against things. 2)Even being in the living switches it up because as comfortable as the couch can be that whole laying down thing seems to be all wrong for sex so the girl on top is usually best(I think mostly of anyone would agree with this, cause trying to get a stroke going with one leg on the couch and the other off is wack lol).

Taking it outside the house adds something pretty special to any sexual experience and that is the idea of being free and the idea that someone may be looking or getting caught. Even the "freakiest" person sometimes turns their noses at the whole getting caught thing but the fact of the matter remains that at this point every person has had sex in they cribs with they parents in the crib or somewhere where it is possible someone walks in and sex in public is the same deal so shut it and even more Adam and Eve clearly had sex in the middle of the woods and GOD himself made them(yea i know crazy right!!!lmao) so...... I come to you all to tell you my story with the hopes that you’ll learn. I know I write these blog posts and I can attest that I have a lot of wisdom on the subject but, I must confess… I am still learning new things about love everyday. It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of lessons that I learn and the wonderment I have for the lessons to come.

Love is a fight or more appropriately stated by Pat Benatar… Love is a Battlefield. Either you’re fighting against the forces that aim to hurt your relationship, or you’re fighting with your counterpart to make it all work. Like any battle, there are days when the fight intensifies and days when you rest but, no matter the day… you’re still keeping an eye out because, you never know what lies beyond the horizon.
Like any one of us can attest to, relationships and love are constant battles. It’s only natural that we argue (or disagree) with our other half. We are two different people with two different perspectives, trying to share one world together. When we’re single, we only have to be cognizant of the wants and needs of one person – ourselves. Now all of the sudden, we have another person to factor in, who has their own wants and needs that may or may not match our own. And what we have to get is that it is those disagreements that shape the boundaries of your relationship. They also open up opportunities for you to get to know more about your boo. So next time you all are disagreeing… think about how you’ll be different later and what did you learn. It’s all about growth. Are we bigger, better and stronger than when we got in this love? But most importantly, at the end of the day we realize that for our relationship (or love) to continue, we have to subscribe to the song of Stevie when he eloquently wrote “All in Love is Fair.” We have to take the small battles in stride and look to the great things that they can do for our future.

But what about when outside forces (exes, friends, enemies and such) come against your relationship? This is where my story comes in. I have loved before. However, I have never fought for it. If an obstacle stood between us and the future, I figured that the obstacle was there for a reason and I conveniently walked away. It seemed like the easiest way to go as well as the most logical and least emotional. But what I hadn’t realized was that I was setting myself up for failure. I know plenty about fighting in love, but I know nothing about fighting for love (or even like). I realized in recent days that, I am ill equipped to fight. So what can I do? How can I make this better? There seems to be no amount of poems or how to books that can detail to me how to fight for what I want. I am dumbfounded at the notion of having to fight... And when I fight, how long do I fight?

So, for once, I want your help Snewty readers!!! Help a sister out! Lol!

Was this a set up? During the footage Serena screams "I didn't say that, are you serious?"... It was said that Serena threatened to kill one of the linesperson. However, after reviewing re-plays it could not be verified that Williams used the word "kill". Serena was fined for her actions of slamming her tennis racket down and on Monday she released her second statement on the situation w/ an apology.

Here is some of what Serena had to say:
"I want to amend my press statement of yesterday, and want to make it clear as possible — I want to sincerely apologize FIRST to the lines woman, Kim Clijsters, the USTA and mostly tennis fans everywhere for my inappropriate outburst. I'm a woman of great pride, faith and integrity, and I admit when I'm wrong. I need to make it clear to all young people that I handled myself inappropriately and it's not the way to act — win or lose, good call or bad call in any sport, in any manner.

Well hello my people? Yea yea I know, where have I been? Sorry, last week I got caught up at work and as you all know Freaky Friday usually post at night time and after work time just got away from me so again I apologize, but guess what I'm gonna hold you guys down please believe.
